Daniel N. Thomas was born in Detroit, Michigan. Dan attended the University of Kentucky where he was a history major and president of Kappa Sigma fraternity. After graduation, he enrolled in the Levin College of Law at the University of Florida, graduating in 1973. After working as an assistant Kentucky Attorney General for a year, in 1974 Dan entered private practice in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
In his 40 years of experience, Dan has primary focused on complex litigation in state and federal courts. His experience in education law has led to him providing representation to various local boards of education, most recently, and serving as special counsel for the Muhlenberg County Board of Education. He has previously provided legal representation to KASA Administrators, served as a city attorney and as counsel for the Conservancy Board.
Dan has been an active member of the local community serving as an elected member of the Christian County School Board for 12 years. Presently, Dan is a board member on the Hopkinsville/Christian County Community Development Services (formerly Planning and Zoning) Other past and present organizations include the University of Kentucky Alumni Association (board member), Rotary Club of Hopkinsville, Museum Board, and president of the Costa Del Sol Homeowners Association.
Dan and his wife Betty are members of First Christian Church. They have two children, Katie Peebles, who is the paralegal/office manager and Bryan Thomas, who is an attorney in Nashville, Tennessee. Dan is blessed with three granddaughters and a grandson. Dan is an avid fan of University Kentucky football and basketball and has been a Tennessee Titans season ticket holder since the team’s relocation to Nashville.
